Cut-area-only Cerakote is the best bang for your buck. It allows you to keep the factory finish on the rest of your slide—which is often superior to most aftermarket coatings—while still protecting the bare metal from a corrosive environment. Most slides are made from some grade of carbon steel, so poor maintenance can quickly lead to rusting in these areas if not maintained with oil periodically. Because your optic cut area is in a non-abrasive environment, cerakote in the cut area only is the perfect solution.
To keep things simple, we will be matching your slide with one of these five cerakote colors:
There will always be a small overlap between the Cerakote and the factory coating. This ensures that all bare metal is covered to help protect against future corrosion issues. However, if you'd like to see a different color that more closely matches your firearm, please select “Other” and specify in the comments. There will be an upcharge and often additional turnaround time for using a color outside of our standard options.
